Donald Duane Nutt is of the thirteenth generation of his branch of the Rowley family in America. His great-grandmother was Elnora Rowley, daughter of Abram Rowley and Kathleen Gravenstein.

One week after her twentieth birthday Elnora Rowley married Cornelius "Neil" Peak. Together they raised six children, four girls and two boys.

Neil and Elnora lived in the Sanilac county, Michigan area most of their lives. Early in their married life, however, they moved to the Britton area of Lenawee county, Michigan and lived there for at least ten years. It was in Lenawee county where at least the first five, if not all six, of their children were born.

Elnora died late in the year 1952 at the age of 76. Her husband Neil predeceased her in 1937 at the age of 61.

The Rowley family's progenitor was Henry Rowley, born about 1598 in Hertfordshire county, England. In 1632 he and his three children came to America on the sailing ship named Charles. His wife Sarah (Palmer) Rowley died in England sometime before 1632.

Henry Rowley was one of the original settlers in Scituate, Massachusetts. On that settlement's 1633 roll he is recorded as a Freeman. He lived in the same village with governor William Bradford and Captain Myles Standish, two of the Mayflower's most distinguished voyagers.

On October 17, 1633, Henry Rowley married Anna (Elsdon) Blossom, widow of Deacon Thomas Blossom, and took in her three children to raise. Anna was several years older than Henry.

About 1639 Henry moved to Barnstable, Massachusetts. He again moved about 1650 to Falmouth, Massachusetts, where he died in July of 1673.
