The Ellis family is on Peggy (Landrith) Nutt's maternal side of her family. Her mother was June Ellis, daughter of Roy Ellis and Cordia Isreal. However, Cordey died when June was only six so June was raised by her uncle Monroe Ellis and his wife Helen Nash. The ties between the Ellises and Nashes are numerous. To further explain the connection between the two families, here is an interesting Ellis–Nash story that you're sure to enjoy!

Peggy's paternal grandparents were Leon Landrith and Rhuie McPherson. However, Rhuie died when her only child Clayton Landrith was eleven months old so Clayton was raised by his uncle Gerald McPherson and his wife Orpha Nash (a sister to Helen Nash mentioned above). Now with both of Peggy's parents being raised by Nash sisters, it was only natural that Clayton and June considered themselves cousins. It was during Clayton's first leave home from the U. S. Navy that Orpha (Nash) McPherson began playing matchmaker. She convinced Clayton that he and June were not really related, and that he should ask her for a date. Well, wouldn't you know that Clayton and June ended up marrying each other! Theirs was a wonderful marriage lasting forty six years until June's premature death in 1990. And now you're probably wondering what became of Clayton. Well, Clayton lived on for five and one-half years under the loving care of their only child Peggy until he, through his own death in 1995, was eternally reunited with his beloved June.

If anyone has additional information on this branch of the Ellis family, I would be delighted for you to contact me and help fill in any information gaps.
