An Obituary1

ADRIAN, MICH. — Maurice Edward Rowley Sr., 77, of Adrian and Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday 17 June 1998 at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility.

He was born 21 July 1920 in Adrian, Michigan to James and Bertha (Negus) Rowley. He married Betty Jane Yerks on 17 November 1945. She preceded him in death 21 May 1998. Maurice was an active member and past commander of Lenawee Chapter 20, VFW, and was awarded a life membership by the chapter. He was also a member of the American Legion. He served in the Marine Corps during W.W.II. Maurice worked in the construction field all his working years and retired in 1982 after working several years on the renovation of Hillsdale College.

Survivors include three sons: Ronald (Marsha) and grandson Andrew Rowley of Adrian, Maurice "Bud" and grandson Kyle Rowley of Oxford, Michigan, and Randy (Beth) and grandson Scott Rowley of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two sisters: Lillian Roback and Clara Dickinson, both of Adrian; two brothers: James Walter Rowley of Tecumseh, Michigan, and Robert Harry Rowley of Detroit, Michigan.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and two sisters.

Private services will be held by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Braun-Everiss-Wagley Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Maurice’s name may be made to the Lenawee Medical Care Facility. Envelopes are available at the Braun-Everiss-Wagley Funeral Home.
