PORT HURON, MICH. — Robert James "Butch" Nutt, 58, of Port Huron, died Monday, May 4, 1998, in his residence after a long illness.

He was born September 16, 1939, in Port Huron. He married Joan Louise (Monzo) Doherty on April 6, 1998, in Port Huron.

Mr. Nutt was employed in the maintenance department at Port Huron Hospital for sixteen years. He owned and operated his own Tulsa gasoline station for twenty years.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; two stepsons, Frank L. (wife Marilyn) Bailey Jr., and Brian L. (wife Tina) Bailey; one stepdaughter, Robin S. (Isidoro) Oceguera; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (wife Evie) Nutt of Milan, and Lewis Nutt Jr. of Evanston, Wyoming; three sisters, Shurley Jean Wagor of Fort Gratiot, Mary Lou Johnston of Romulus, and Katie Eliza (husband Dick) Phillips of Fort Gratiot; one sister-in-law, Dolly Nutt of Marysville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lewis and Hazel Nutt; two brothers, William and Joseph; and two sisters, Clara Mae Nutt and Anna May (Nutt) McDonald.

Funeral services will be held at the Arthur Smith Funeral Home, 1230 7th Street, at eleven o’clock Thursday. Mary Ann Stackpoole, Chaplain of Port Huron Hospital, will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

Visiting hours are from two to four and seven to nine this evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Frank Bailey Jr., Brian Bailey, Isidoro Oceguera, Tom Wakeham, John Kelly, and Gaylord Genaw Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Art Garcia, Jack Belyea, and Mike Sumoski.

Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice.
